I don't know about using them in a Marx generator, but I have twelve of the
2k volt oven caps in a Cockroft/Walton multiplier that gives me better than
60kv. I've run this for extended periods on an accelerator without failure
or significant cap heating. My Marx generator has ten stages of 1600 volt
mylar caps in the 1000pf range, but I'd be inclined to try the experiment
rather than just dismiss the idea. You never know what you might learn.
