I think he was referring to the primary tank capacitor and how it affects
the input impedance (primary side) of a transformer.
However, most place their tank capacitors in series (with the spark gap in
parallel) to the NST secondary side.

Every tesla coil i've seen has the tank capacitor in series (not parallel)
at the secondary side of the NST.
