Cheapest and easiest usually yield sub optimal
results.

Corona Rectifier is the name. There is much wisdom
which is not on the WWW, hence, inaccessible to
google. eg printed proceedings of IEEE, and
predecessor organizations.
That having been said, Field Ion Rectifer may also
work. Cold Cathode rectifer. Applications are (were)
Usually to non TC power sources, so some basic
engineering may be necessary to apply them to TC
systems.
