You might find  large "old dish pans or wash tubs" that could be TIG welded
to heavy guage sheet aluminum to give a flattened, rounded cylinder,
possibly for $50-100 total. This would not be 4' in diameter but still
large by most standards. FWIW, The larger Van De Graaf generators I have
seen were shaped similarly. I have seen kitchen aluminum cannisters used
for smaller devices.(Same shape)  ||;o)
