This past April I was re-introduced to Tesla coils for the first time in 40
years. The basic design was still there, but the attention to details
regarding proportions between primary, secondary, caps, and power source is
incredibly accurate, especially when using the various Tesla apps. My 3.5 x
15" coil worked as predicted by the List the first time and was tuned within
minutes. Fine tuning and performance enrichment will take more time. What
was most important were all issues having to do with safety, RF grounding
and filtering, power factoring, protecting NSTs, protecting caps, and
protecting all other electronic devices in my apartment. I have yet to have
any problems. I also ventured into new territory, operating coils in the
heart of the city which had its own issues.

Read all threads here, traverse the Tesla ring, search the web for Tesla
coil and you can go all over the world for advice. Check out ebay for Tesla
coil, high voltage, and other key words. Most of the parts and raw materials
in my coil were obtained from there at reasonable prices (NSTs, mag wire,
primary and bypass caps, bleeder resistors, insulators, etc.). Have a great
and safe time!

Gary

Greetings from Atlanta Georgia, I am Robert Evan Teet.
To make a long story short, I was at a Convention around here and saw a
Tesla coil in action and became an addict and now believe i have enough
information and understanding of the devices to build one. So with that in
mind, is there anyone here willing to teach a Tesla Neo-Phyte the places
online to get parts for a relatively low price. Im a college student if that
helps you understand the price concern here. Also, if theres anyone willing
to help me with the design aspects for a relatively "small" (when i say
small i mean 8 inch sparks, as opposed to the one online i saw at
http://www.ttr-dot-com/model13d.html ) ;)

Thank you in advance and i look forward to meeting you.
