Paralleled transformers are not tolerant of an excessive imbalance. They will 
sort of
push and shove on eachother. Dimmers are not calibrated, nor are they made to 
any 
degree of tolerance that would enable you to drive both dimmers from a single 
shaft.
You could put a voltmeter across the output of each dimmer. The best way is 
to use a variac. A 15-20 Amp variac is almost essential for Tesla work. Hope
