Re: The dowel of death - SAFETY

Dear list. I would like to inform those who use "bang sticks," "short out
poles"
or any other such "do high voltage work but at the end of a long insulated rod
of some kind" etc, what I use. Not to get anyone mad or embarrassed or
emotional and just give the info. I use long fiberglass rod that is . 4 inch
in dia
from school curtains. These are the kind that last very well in direct
sunlight,
are white, very stiff, and cut with a hack saw with itchy powdered glass fiber
coming from the cut. These work very well with me and I check each one with
the output of an NST first before putting into service. Also while talking
with a
High voltage friend of mine that is not on the list about this subject, he
has told
me he uses a saw'd off tree trimmers pole since these are made for the purpose
of cutting limbs while not being electrocuted. I hope this helps someone.
