Re: Making a very small TC using an ign. coil

The first Tesla coil I ever built (when I was 13) was
an itty bitty thing wound on a scrap of PVC pipe and
excited with a regular car ignition coil pulsed with a
dimmer switch. It worked fine until I finally packed
it away in the attic when I lost interest in it. The
finished TC made a nice purple brush discharge and
harmless sparks up to 3" or so. I built this virtually
"blind" with no idea how it worked or how to optimize
a coil. With all the info you can get from this list
and the www, you can probably do much better than I
did.
