Re: Denver Tesla Meeting

Hi Terry.

I just read the post below. Too bad its after the fact that I just
got back from driving to (and from) Denver with my Model 5M
coil. I was at the Denver Tech Center for the 23rd meeting of
the AMTA (Antenna Measurement Techniques Association),
of which I am a memeber. I demonstrated the 5M coil in the
Columbine Center on Tuesday, Oct. 23.

It made arcs over 12 feet long, drawing only 30 amps from a
240 volt circuit. Lee Anderson was to be there, but he could not
make it on Tuesday. I also gave (an invited) white paper on Tesla
entitled, "Nikola Tesla's Work in Colorado", as well as a poster
paper authored by myself, Dr. Jim Corum and Jim Hardesty,
entitled "Who Was the Real Dr. Nikola Tesla?" We had to
print over 250 copies of this paper to hand out (so great was
the demand). The audience were nearly all electronic engineers
from industry and government agencies and numbered about
350 people all together. I also had Jeff Behary's (prototype)
disruptive discharge Tesla Coil there to exhibit. You
(undoubtedly) remember his post to the Tesla List, about how
this unit produces absolutely flaming white-hot arcs that
are capable of disintegrating 1/8" dia. tungsten rod spark
gap electrodes. All this and the unit draws less then 400 watts
from a standard 120 volt circuit. It was totally amazing, and
is the closest thing I have ever seen, to the (early) table-top
coils that Tesla produced in his NYC laboratory.

The "show" was very well received, and I am sorry that you
(and Lee Anderson) missed it. The demo was video-taped
(using a digital camcorder). I am to receive a VHS copy of
this in the near future. My historical paper is (already) in
print in the proceedings of the 23rd annual meeting of the
AMTA.

Best regards,
Bill Wysock.
