Construction techniques (attaching toroid and secondary coil)

Original poster: "Brett Error by way of Terry Fritz <twftesla-at-qwest-dot-net>" <bretterror-at-hotmail-dot-com>

I'm building my first Tesla coil (4" secondary). I have the base, primary
coil, spark gaps, transformer all put together, and was about to start the
secondary coil while the materials for the MMC I've ordered arrive. My plan
was to cap the ends of the coil with wood disks perforated with carriage
bolts. I was going to use a bolt on one end of the column to attach the
secondary to the base, and the bolt on the other to attach the toroid
(hadn't worked out the details yet). I just, however, read Richard Quick's
coilbld series where he describes how important it is to NOT drill holes in
the end caps and seal the column.

My questions are:

1) What is a good way to attach the secondary coil to the stand without a
bolt running through the end cap? Anyone have any suggested techniques?

2) What is the best way to attach the toroid to the top of the coil?
Richard wasn't very specific on how the toroid could/should be attached.
Anyone have experience with specific methods that seem to work well?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Brett
