Ken, all,
My 10 kVA pole pig driven system has a nice 27.5 nFD, 42 kV
X 12 (12 identical caps inside one unit) made by High Ener-
gy Corp. and with it externally bussed for 6 strings of 2
(82.5 nFD -at- 84 kV) and this baby rocks! And it's only
about 3" X 5" X 25" long and weighs in at about 12 lbs!
It would seem that this much energy density would sug-
gest a mylar type dielectric, but this thing hardly gets
the slightest bit warm even after several minutes of 8 kVA
+ firing. I got this beauty from Tony DeAngelis (I'm not sure
he is still on this list)? and it's been rocking in my big coil
for nearly two years now! Thanks to Tony, I only have $95
in this capacitor, shipping included. However, a part #
inquiry to High Energy indicated that this thing would cost
over $1500, so I suppose they can be too expensive:-(
