Patrick,

I use a nylon bolt to attach a 1" PVC cap to my secondary end disk.  Then
another PVC cap bolted to the toroid center disk.  Toroid height adjustment
is then a simple matter of how long a piece of 1" PVC pipe is between the
PVC caps.
