Re: Capacitor Dielectric

I had read somewhere that Tesla himself appreciated the self healing
properties that an oil dielectric will have.

To separate the plates I am using the following design:

-------------------------------------------------
|  o                                                             O    |
|                                                                        |
|                       Aluminum Plate                          |
|                                                                        |
|  O                                                             o    |
-------------------------------------------------

Note that wholes are not the same size.
The small wholes are 1/4" and the larger 1/2".

These plates are being spaced along 4 - 1/4" threaded rods to form the
following:

|        |        |
|                 |
========  <= 1/4" rod
|                 |
|        |        |
|        |        |
         |
========  <= 1/4" rod

         |
|        |        |

Side view

Notice here that I have alternated each plate. That way each rod contacts
every other plate.
I am using plastic tubing over the threaded rods to insulate the rod from
the plates that it should not touch
and to provide the proper spacing. If this thing actually works I'll post
pictures.
