My First Secondary probably had some bumps and spaces too like yours did.
Unfortunately, mine burned up at one of those bump points. See pictures at:

Hi Jim...

jumped turns are not good....  they usually end up arcing out at the point
of crossover. The coil will
run for a little while but in due time the crossover point will become a
problem. If you can , rewind
the portion of the tube which has the crossovers.
