I do, but only for <10 bangs for sec and usually <5 for m SS DC TC.
They are lossier than PP and will heat up at fast bang rates.
I feature a custom designed and built model achieving a
38" 5 Joule discharge using a small 12v battery drawing .05A (<1 watt !!)
It uses two .1uF 10kV mylars (polyester film)
It is the model I use as for demonstration at presentations.

Has anyone tried using polyester film capacitors in their MMC's? They are
significantly cheaper, and I was curious as to whether or not they would
work well.
