chris,
i've made 20'+ hot sticks for pulling the bayonet's on distribution
transformers and pulling cable across ceilings, by filling 1" and 1/2"
respectively, pvc with minimum expanding crack filling foam. you
wouldn't believe how far this stuff travels up a tube with just a few
squirts? once filled and cured over night, we were hard pressed to flex
the lengths. i glued threaded caps (male\female) to screw two or three
lengths together, they are still in the bucket truck and used once in a
while.
might make a good 10' hot stick for those "long distance" high voltage
experiments? just be sure to cap both ends, i used hose clamps to hold
different "special service tools" on the tip.
