- And I wound the grid coil onto a ring 1/2" wide, which I cut from a
8" coupling piece. Between the ring and the 8" form I placed some
small plastic parts which hold the ring in place but would allow
easy shifting for tweaking. Got the idea?

- Here the inner plastic insulation is nearly 1/2" thick and I got arcs
for all that.

you got so long arcs out of a single MOT. Congratulations!
