Re: Music Instrument Tube Amps conversion to Tesla use?

Albert,

6L6 tubes and the other components in these guitar ampz are not well suited for
vac toob tesla coil use. I also believe there would be good interest on ebay
for ampz without speaker boxes. Just make sure you show good pictures. Take
the money and buy an 833A triode or 833C from RF Parts Co.
<http://www.rfparts-dot-com>www.rfparts-dot-com Use a microwave oven transformer from
one of the larger power rated 120 volt ovens. Save he diode and capacitor also
and try to get a second capacitor from another oven. You will use these in
parallel as one in your voltage doubler circuit. You will need to find other
parts not available in guitar ampz either, like the mica or otherwise tank
capacitor, grid leak power resistor, etc. Properly done you will get a
beautiful 22 inch discharge from a single 833A with the power supply
described. All you could do with your guitar ampz after throwing away 99% of
the parts as unusable would be maybe an inch discharge.

If you can, keep one of the guitar ampz (I'd keep the highest power one) as a
source of audio power in case you wish to make your newly constructed vac toob
TC 'speak' someday.

IMO
