malcolm, all

i never thought of the flash over between windings? maybe it will be a
use for the short spools of teflon coated wire i have? i really would
like to try a small one and my three phase inverting drive (8kva) will
be tuned and tweaked very soon, (big grin, happy shuffle ( i can't
dance)).
i'm not sure how the ac drives "sudo" sine waves will cooperate?
maybe three 12\30 nst's with a 4" coil?

i hope you can start playing soon. i have been getting allot of
questions on how to build it from many coilers, i am so happy that so
many others are going to start trying the triggered gap, it was no fun
being the only one seeing the beauty and usefulness of this gap, again i
will stick my neck out and say that i believe the rotary gap will soon
be obsolete. i just don't see the need for all that work, higher overall
system current requirements and all that spinning mass to do what just a
few little pieces will do?
i'm looking forward to all the new ideas, designs and operating
structures that will be coming in, the triggered gap has brought out the
"BEST" performance from all my systems, with just the simplest setup i
ran a 12kv\120ma nst bank through just the triggered gap with no air, it
did get hot after a couple minutes, but it didn't seem to drop in
performance, the spacing of the main electrodes had to be 1 3\4".
the way i set the main gap electrode spacing is i start the trigger
pulse driver, then i start the tank power, then i shut the trigger
driver off. if the gap shuts down then i know the spacing is ok, it does
do some interesting things with wider gap spacing but that's a different
thing for the future ( i have many interesting experiments with it to
share).
it is a MUST to have a safety gap in place if anyone uses this
suggestion, when you shut the trigger driver down it will kill the
nst's without one (summers here, time to drag up the nst oven again).
i can hardly wait until the reports start coming in, i have started
updating my web site with the "gobs" of new info i have for it, anyone
interested can check once in a while for new info and pics.
http://www.fortunecity-dot-com/meltingpot/syria/1210/index.htm
follow the site map to "triggered gap", "blown triggered gap" and i will
add a "triggered gap theory and op." section, when others start getting
different suggestions coming in i will ad those too.
thank you, take care and "lets have some fun"
