Jeff,

That would depend on whether you have grounded one side of
your pole pig's output or leave both ends hot w/out grounding
either side. If you are leaving both of the HV output leads from
your pig "hot", then I would suggest that you do use a center 
RF grounded electrode for your safety gap. However, if one of
the HV output leads is tied to ground, then there is obviously
no need to place a center grounded electrode between the two
HV outputs when one of them is already grounded.
