Hello all,
I was talking to my father about my tesla coils the other day and near the
end of the conversation he said to me, " Drew, You're just trying to
re-invent the wheel"! I sat back and thought about what he had said for a
few minutes. I stood up and said," Dad, Im not trying to re-invent the
wheel, Sure this has been done many times before, but do you have any idea
how much i have learned since i started building Tesla coils"? I never even
knew how a transformer worked before i started building TCs. I have learned
a great deal about induction and even just the properties of electricity
itself. All of this is going to be very useful to me and it is great to
know. I would like to thank everyone on the list for all of the help, and
advice that they have given me over the past few months. I am currently
working on my 4th coil and i want to make this one work the way it is
supposed to! I got my hands on a small PT (Finally) and it works great. I am
trying to build a plate cap, but i know that i should buy a MMC instead. By
the way, What are your thoughts on vertical spring style primaries. I think
that they may work better, but i may be wrong. Also, can i connect the
bottom of the secondary to the bottom of the primary? Why does this work? I
have tries this before and my coil still worked just as well as when i had
the bottom of the secondary grounded. Let me know!
                                                      The thankful,
                                                       Drew Murray
