Alan: I know what you mean. When I called, having read their website, I was
surprised that Frank Amato (salesman) offered the AWG 24 in Green, Red and
Clear. I asked "What about blue, gold etc." He replied that THOSE were for
hobby use and not the standard mag wire I needed. He confirmed that the
Green, Red and Clear were indeed AOK for our usage.
My new secondary is about 14" wound (of 28") and sure looks different with
green. :^)
Naturally, I am hopefull that the sparks it generates will not be green
<smile> but instead that beautiful blue-white.

Ted, All
Last time i called up parawire, they informed me that their magnet
wire is
for hobby use only and shouldn't be used for Electrical purposes because
they dont manufacture some of their colored wires with the same standards as
normal mag wire. Has anyone found this to be the case or was that guy on the
phone full of it?

Hello Matt...all
While everyone seems to have their special sources ranging from a local
motor rewinding shops to the local junk yard and back, I have located a
source that carries a good range, decent prices and...color insulation (red,
green and clear).
I also miked the 3000 feet of #24 and the insulation is a heavy build :)
I am winding a new 6.25 secondary with green and it looks very colorful!

Check them out. The salesguy I dealt with by photo is Frank Amato. Located
in New Jersey.

I realize that this has been discussed a few times before, but can anyone
provide a general summary of the places/sites that one can obtain magnet
wire
at non-exorbitant prices? Thanks.
