performance problems + secondary burn
Original poster: "Leto Tokarev by way of Terry Fritz <twftesla-at-qwest-dot-net>" <leto-at-irisz.hu>
hi!
today my secondary melted down :) almos exactly on the middle, like 10
turns seems to be overheated. the varnish evaporated, and this ten turn
moved down a bit.
system parameters:
4" x 20" secondary, 1000 turns
13 turn flat primary, tube width 0.160, spacing 0.360,
inner diameter 5.5". usually tapped around 4-6 turn.
100BPS SRSG
top toroid is 25"x6.5"
100nF pulse cap
dual MOT power supply with voltage doubler.
with no current limiting, it gives rather small arcs (6-7")
with a LOT more topload (like stacking 3-4 toroids), and findig the best
primary tap point, i got 12-15" arcs.
whats wrong? the 230V input cable gets overheating, and so small output :)
TIA + greetings from hungary;
Leto
