Tube coils and solid state coils run in CW mode. It's like
a radio transmitter constantly feeding power to the coil.
This is in contrast to the capacitive discharge/ damped
wave approach used in spark gap TCs. CW means
continuous wave, and it's use in TCs is "inefficient" for
producing long sparks.
