That I can imagine, if you weren't evacuating completely for later
refill with something beside air.

Not sure about either of these things (just plain don't know), but my
old association with builders of HV capacitors taught me that exposure
to any moisture at all should be avoided during manufacture.
I'm not sure that the "direction of flow" will apply to residual water
vapor.

Interesting topic and think it would be useful to know if use of a
simple aspirator is really good enough, as someone has reported.
