My suggestion, is to not ask around for trouble and not to go seeking out
the opinion of governmental officals. You might find what I have seen happen
before. Not knowing what a tesla coil is, they may make a snap descision
that might leave you and a lot of people out in the cold. A descision, I
might add that might be just born of the desire to usher you out the door,
or hide lack of knowledge.

Usually, regulations are made when something becomes common enough to bother
with. I think there are regulations that might apply if you were using the
device as a business but as an individual, My feelings are, I want to be a
law-abiding citizen and there is a saying that says "Ignorance of the law is
no excuse" but this does not mean I want to go seek out trouble or give
anyone a chance to kill this hobby for me.
