secondary coating

hey everyone,

i was planning on winding my secondary sometime this week, but have a 
question.
is poly-urathane a good coating to apply to the pvc both before and after i 
wind it, or is there some other finish that would work best?

second question is, how many coats are needed before the winding, and after?
i've tried to look it up on some of the tesla pages, but it seems that some 
people dont coat it at all. kinda confusing........
