although mylar "looks" to be the ideal hawg capacitor dielectric, it
falls very short.
as john mentions, the loss is there, also the problem i found with using
it is that it takes ZERO corona.
this boils down to very round, very large holes burnt right trough many
layers in a very short time.
the very fine coronas that you'll see along the edges of the plates will
kill the cap in short order, your money is better spent on polyethylene
or polypropylene sheet protectors.
