Thought this might be of interest.
On the subject of safety circuits in NSTs, I've just bought a new
transformer from Tunewell, here in the UK, and found that they now come with
ground fault and open circuit protection. They do this because of European
law but a safety circuit like this, for Tesla Coiling use, is not what you
want.
Fortunately, it has been designed to run off dimmer or flasher controllers
which would normally conflict with the safety circuit. You have to remove a
link and add an extra live feed for the circuitry. For coiling use, remove
this link but leave off the extra live wire. It can now be used and abused!!
