Hi Luc,
I have done exactly what you suggest but I didn't use a
single 1/2 wave secondary. Instead I used a passive resonator
identical to the driven one as the "earth" counter poise and not only
eliminated the need for a RF ground but also enjoyed the benefit of
extra sparklength between the two coil tops. A straight halfwave coil
doesn't need a ground as you suggest.
