The meter "should" use 1kHz for the measurement which will be far below the
frequency were the unconnected secondary will make a difference. Someimes
Mutimeters are not real good at LC measurements and not having a way to
tune is risky, so I would worry that it will work out just right.
Is there some way you can test the coil with a primary that you can tap and
then go back and "fix" it once you are sure of the tuning?
