I'll bet those pointed oak leaves have issued their share of Corona
being in close proximity to your TC, albeit hard to see.
(who looks for leaf corona when there's real sparkin goin on ?)
The power dissipated by leaf "tip projections" via outreaching corona
may be sufficient to dry up life sustaining moisture channels.
or
by Corona generated at the leaf concentrating ozone at the leaf surface
The concentrated ozone being a vigorous oxidizer may well be the mechanism
for demise.

Hi Tom...
I run a pole pig Coil setup outside ( too big to run in the shop) and in the
vicinity of the coil there are a few branches of an oak tree nearby..
altho the
streamers have never hit the branches of the tree, there is definate proof that
the effects of the coil can be hazardous to living things... the leaves
on the
branches nearest the coil have all died and turned brown. I dont know if
this is
the effects of Ozone or of the electromagnetic field which have caused this to
occur. With this "proof" I would seriously consider not allowing ones self to
become too close to a coil in operation....
