Shouldn't really be an issue.. PFC is an issue if you are trying to eke out
the most watts with a given number of amps (limited by conductor size or
circuit breaker) where you don't want to waste those valuable amps on "vars"
which don't do useful work.

Yesiree this would be a problem, esp if you ran a separately powered (i.e.
run off a motor and not the genset shaft) sync gap.  I don't think the spark
gap load would cause the problem (the frequency is well above the effective
low pass cutoff of the mechanical inertia in the system), but when a good
streamer develops or the TC load changes dramatically (which it does), you
might see some unusual interactions.
