Hello Chris:
You might want to take a look at using one litre PE milk jugs.
Being square, you'll have more surface area for a given volume
plus they will nest together better than round bottles, hence
taking up less room. The plastic in the jugs we get is quite
thick, so they should take the voltage OK. Six in parallel
should give you the desired capacity.
