I guess you can give it a try also without resistors and capacitors, provided
that the diodes are IDENTICAL. Resistors and capacitors are there only to
provide an homogeneous voltage distributions among all diodes, but if all
diodes
are same type (and possibly from the same batch) it already ensures enough
equal
voltage distribution.

Marco,
Your design looks great, but could it be run without the resistors and
capacitors across the diodes, or would this be likely to damage the microwave
caps during TC service?  I'm finding it very hard to get HV resistors, and on
my MMC will probably have to use strings of 250V rated ones.
