I just ran the caps in a series line, terminals pushed through a perf
board and soldered together, no real cooling aside from normal air
convection. If you really do plan on running at 10 KV for any signifigant
time, then I would supose 3-4 parrellel strings would be in order... That
is in a realm I haven't been in.

Sounds good. "I" would try that existing coil, and bring the Voltage up
with a variac incremintially, and monitor temp of all componants, that
should let you test suitability. In my experience with the 833 tubes, I
have found that the limiting factor is the tube (plates getting to hot),
most likely in your case (with that monster tube!) you will be pusing new
ground. Robert Stephens' built a mungo tube coil, perhaps he has something
to say (Robert?). I have a 6"x26" coil with #24 wire that someday I would
like to test, most likely in the level shifting mode...
