An article featuring such a gap was published in TCBA news, consisting of
two electrodes within a sealed glass tube(the ends were melted shut) and
magnesium powder added as a "getter". During experiementation, the arc
hit the magnesium, odidizing it, and reducing the pressure withing the
tube to a slight vacuum. It performed admirably, as well as a
multi-section static gap did with the same coil.
It was in volume 18, #2, and written by Timothy Raney. reply off-list if
