Re: HV wiring
to: Kent & Kim
Glad to hear your son did so well on his project. Sounds like you burned
the midnight oil for a few nights to get it running in time.
Excellent lead wire is high voltage wire used for neon signs available from
any local neon shop. An even better wire is the super large 8 mm ignition
cable used in high performance autos which is available from any local speed
shop usually in bulk form. They also have some nice well insulated
connectors that can be used to route the energy in and out of enclosures.
In our commercial resonance transformer systems we use only HV connectors
made by the Caton Connector Corp, Kingston, MA. These are expensive but
only a few are necessary so they are worth the expense. They are completely
moulded cable/connector and come in a variety of sizes and ratings. The
lower voltage and less expensive cables seem to work fine.
