I have to disagree with you on this point.
If you add up the cost of all the component parts for a good rolled poly
cap it can get very high before you know it.
In the UK the poly and oil is quite expensive, but don`t forget the
pipe,
end caps, HV terminals etc.
The plate cap that Brian & myself built (0.0151uF)works out at over 120
UK pounds
so an MMC with a value of 0.04uF and a cost of 82 pounds(including bleed
resistors)
is a real money saver.
If you want a real shock to the system (no pun intended)look through the
Maxwell
price list but make sure you are sat down first.
