I haven't heard of the Wells coil, but any automotive salvage shop will
have GE high-energy coils out of Olds and Cadillac (at least). They're
in the distributor cap, and I have usually paid $5.00 each including the
cap, want it or not. I can get 6" sparks out of a pair of them dunked
in oil, using a rather simple triac pulse source.
