The problem with writing such a general construction file is that the
breakdown voltage and current handling characteristics of differing
manufacturer's capacitors is likely to differ. "Your milage may vary."
While several of us have reported success, there's not yet enough of an
experience base to make hard and fast predictions of just how far we can
push these. This technique is still in its infancy. But then, how many
of us have followed the archived instructions on building rolled poly
caps only to blow them!
I can tell you that I spent $132 plus shipping for my PP caps. Unless
you have the good fortune to find a hoard of suitable caps at surplus
prices, this is not a cheap way out. I just wanted a cap that would stay
cool and not blow, and not make me crazy spending weeks to assemble it.
