Yes. Even commercial pulse caps get hot after a few minutes and a
run time over 5 minutes (IMO) is asking for trouble.

The longest continuous run times I've ever seen were from Robert Stephens
of Lindsay Scientific. The hardest working Tesla coil I know of is the
Universal Studios Tram Ride Tesla coil build by Bill Wysock of
Tesla Technology Research. Maybe Bill or Robert can shed some
insight on extreme run times...
