I tried this with OK results (not specacular).  You must get the type of 
spark plug w/o the resistive core or you won't get any primary current 
to speak of!

(I don't have a part number at the moment - seems like I found some 
lawnmower plugs which had no resistor/supressor inside the porcelain)
