Hi Otto,
I've been down that same road recently. Due to the capacitance required for my
coil and the safezone overvoltage requirement vs. cost, I decided to "aquire"
professional caps (actually have three 65KV 0.02uF low esr high Q pulse caps
which arrived Monday - he he he yippi yahoooo, I'll be paralleling these up for
0.06uF).
But, to the point - during my rolled LDPE cap quest, low esr was a goal. What I
eventually came up with was simply (maybe not so simple) allowing a couple inches
of plate overhang on each end with the dielectric centered. Once rolled up, all
the overhang per end can be connected making a very low esr high Q cap.
