Subject: I finished my home made transformer.
Hello everybody,
I finished and tested my home made transformer today. After checking for
core saturation I connect it to a Jacob's ladder and limited the current to
240 ma at 15 kV. Worked great. The transformer is rated 29 kV 9 KVA.
Earlier today I connected it to one of my 6" tesla coils again limited to 240
ma at 15 kV. Using a 10 NF cap the secondary sparks sounded much higher in
frequency. I guess it was firing at 480 Hz. The streamers weren't much
longer than usual (120 Hz) although there was a very large wind current in the
room. I had one of those industrial fans that lay on the floor. Nice toasty
36 degrees Celsius down here. For more in depth information about my
transformer go to my web page. http://members.aol-dot-com/tesla00. Now I just
need another 10NF cap and I will be making 10' + sparks.
Building a transformer can be done it just takes lots of time. I would like
to thank the following people for helping me.
Mike Hollingsworth
Mike Hammer
Terry Fritz
