transformer type?

Subject:  transformer type?

I picked up a transformer off a friend who was literally going to use it for a
boat anchor. The plate says Sangamo type SMC-150 current transformer 30:5A.
Does anybody out there have any info on this type & if it would be at all
usable for any kind of Tesla work. If not it sure is heavy enough to make a
darn good anchor.
