I second that! The Heise paper from '64 is the most
comprehensive treatment of TC's that I have seen to date.
No hand waving, just good solid theory.
He starts with the basic theory and differential equations,
and works thru to the actual construction of a 20kHz,
160kVA coil that can throw 9 meter arcs!
Try http://www.ntis.gov/index.html to get a (rather poor)
microfiche copy.
