e-beam "flies back" to the LHS of the screen under the influence of
currents/voltages generated by this component. This must have been one
of the first major uses of this type of supply."
	It was.  I was there.....  They were intended to use some
of the energy stored in the (horizontal deflection coil) inductance
at the end of a sweep.  Originally it was dissipated in a "damper
diode".  Great invention of the late '40's, although may have
been used earlier.
