Ed,
Have you ever contemplated disconnecting BOTH grounds and
direct-wiring the bases of the scondaries together? This is the
arrangement that Malcolm was describing, and I can vouch for the fact
that at least in a table-top system it works better than the grounded
system... although I am somewhat wary of approaching the top of
either secondary with anything that IS grounded.
