In the "good old days" when we didn't have a vacuum chamger
chamber (at work) we used to put stuff in a can of oil and beat
the bottom of the can with a rubber mallet to dislodge the entrapped
air bubbles. Worked pretty well if you had the patience. Just
keep pounding until the bubbles quite rising for a while. If possible,
warm the oil as much as possible to make the bubbles expand. A few
times should work fairly well, certainly much better than doing
nothing! Of course, all it takes is the corona in one little bubbler
bubble!!!!! to start an insulation failure.
